Here is little history

The Lemon Hot Springs was named after a prominent Placerville businessman. Mr Lemon owned the Placerville Mercantile, as well as, a number of other businesses.

He built a new bridge across the San Miguel River to access the springs and his nearby home. According to legend, Mr. Lemon did not trust banks, so he hid his money and gold on the Lemon Springs property.

The Lemon Hot Springs was developed into a commercial hot springs during Placerville’s hayday. The town had a large and busy stockyards operation which attracted thousands of people to the area.

The building of the hot springs represented a significant technical achievement. To capture the hot waters and construct the baths for commercial use, a cave 165 feet deep was a dug. It was extraordinary mining achievement at that time.

The hot springs soon became the social center of the growing community. Like the ancient roman baths, the hot springs was gathering place for socializing.

The Geyser lode is the property where the spring is located. It was also one of the biggest gold producing placer operations in Colorado. Occasionally people are still discovered on the property digging around looking for Mr. Lemon’s gold.

The mineral rich waters flows from the springs at about 9 gallons per minute. It has unlimited pumping capacity. Excellent water rights and 100% of the mineral rights go along with the property. The property also enjoys over a ¼ mile of Blue Ribbon trout fishing along the San Miguel River.
