This picture post-card, tiny village is a romantic getaway that lovers dream about. Hidden deep in the San Juan Mountains, it has a special magic, isolated from the outside work-a-day-world. Your cares seem so drift away. This secret Strange-la is often called “The Switzerland of the Rockies” because it is nestled between the most majestic alpine peaks imaginable.
It is most scenic town in Western Colorado. In addition to the fantastic natural beauty of Ouray, it is blessed with natural hot springs seeping out of the nearby mountains. Pools and springs are scattered throughout the town. You can to soak your cares away, in many different locations, some of them quite private.

The Bon Ton Restaurant is my favorite place for a romantic candle-lit table for two. In the cellar of the St Elmo, it is perfect for upscale, casual dining with an Italian flair. I may be basis, but I prefer the local merlots. The Buen Tiempo Mexican Restaurant & Cantina across Main Street, is another restaurant I like. It is Southwestern Mexican food. And it is noted for 10 different types of Margaritas. An be sure to try to put a dollar on the ceiling. Its Old Country CharmA stroll down Main Street in this quaint mountain hamlet will reveal artsy little shops and galleries filled with the creations of local artist and painters. You may find a true memento of you romantic getaway. Ouray is a historic town complete with a western stagecoach, or if you prefer, you can tour the town in a white horse-drawn carriage. And if you would like a true Normal Rockwell experience, try music in the Hot Springs Park with a glass of wine on a cool summer evening. Or stroll hand in hand along the river walk as you listen to the rushing waters. The Utes believed that the natural hot springs and Ouray had big medicine. They do, romantic medicine.
