Steamboat Lake State Park
Steamboat Lake State Park is a beautiful spot to camp and enjoy Northwest Colorado. It is surrounded by pristine evergreen forest in the shadows of Hahn’s Peak, Just 26 miles north of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It is a beautiful drive to the park along the Elk River Road.
The park surrounds a 1055- acres lake with numerous bays and coves that make you feel that you are on a much smaller secluded lake. It offers peace and quiet in a lush forest setting.

Steamboat Lake
Above the little hamlet of Clark Colorado this pristine mountain setting quickly becomes favorite sports and vacation destination. Snowmobiling, cross-country skiing on groomed trails, and ice fishing has made Steamboat Lake State Park a well known winter sports area.
You will enjoy Steamboat Lake State Park sub-alpine beauty. Colorado wildflower abounds within the park as do many kinds of wildlife. Deer, elk, beaver, and many kinds of waterfowl frequent the area.
The small coves of Steamboat Lake at well know for sizable rainbow trout. Fishing is also excellent year round for brooks and browns.
Camping at Steamboat Lake State Park is a breeze. Sunrise Vista, Dutch Hill and close by Pearl Lake have a combined total of 224 campsites. Steamboat Lake offers both electric and non-electric campsites.
The sites can accommodate tents, trailers, and campers. There is also a some pull-though sites for larger units. Each campsites has a table and grill. Restrooms and water hydrants are found nearby.

Hiking near the Park.
The adjacent Routt National Forest also provides many hiking, mountain biking and four-wheel driving experience while staying at the park.
Poverty Bar Trail provides highlights the rich gold mining history of the area. It is just across the road from the park in Routt National Forest. It is narrow at place so expect Foot, bikes and horses only.
Tombstone Nature Trail is one of the best short trails in Colorado. It is a short 1.1-mile loop trail at Placer Cove Day Use Area. It provides magnificent views of the Lake.
Willow Creek Trail connects the Dutch Hill/Marina area to the Sunrise Vista Campground and continues on to the Visitor Center providing 2 1/2 miles of hiking. This is a great trail for the kids and family. It is easy to moderate trail for hikers. It is often used as a jogging or exercise path.
Steamboat Lake Ski Touring Center is one of the most unusual scenic and classic skate trails in the state. The is also a marked 1.5 mile snowshoe trail offers fantastic views.
Steamboat Lake Multiple Use Access Trail provides winter access to the 146 miles of groomed trails in the Routt National Forest. You can park at the at the large Marina parking lot.
Visitor Center
You can enjoy the mountain scenery while relaxing in the rocking chairs in the public room of the Visitor Center. Browse the books and displays learn about wildlife, and the area history. Books and maps of the area are available for sale at the gift shop. 970-879-3922
